Unforgetable!

Before it came, we anticipated it, planned it and wished for it. But after it was over, what were left behind were just memories. (They pasted everything on mydesk)

I had a friend who asked me how I do i celebrate my birthday, as in how rowdy or peaceful I would love them to be.
My choice would be an unforgetable one. Be it rowdy or peaceful celebrations, the meaning of the celebration should be there. We celebrate because it's a joyous event and not because of the "need" to.

The recent terrorist attack in Mumbai left me wondering, that in life, things are often unpredictable and to be frank, every seconds that you are breathing is a blessing in life.

Therefore, Our life should be more meaningful and instead of expecting more, we should give more and expect less.

Condolence to the families that are affected in this merciless attack.

Fresh Bullogi at Terminal 2

This was my 2nd visit to Bullogi, and since my family has not tried it yet, I decided to treat them.
It is a sister company to Seoul garden but instead of a headcount buffet bbq, they are ala carte and focus more on services.
Price wise, I would say reasonable. However, compared to my first trip, I felt that the portions served was smaller or was it us, big eater?

Online menu and ordering system.

The sauce was nice.

The Chicken was well marinated. Seafood wise, except for the squid, the rest doesn’t tasted fresh. Overall, I think its perfectly fine, except….. WE STINKED after the meal and seriously, the strong stench that we carried not only kill everyone around us but even ourselves can’t take it. I had to sun my bag for 2 days in order to rid the smell away. Definitely a no to all of us ever to step in again!!!

Finally 27...

I hate to admit it...but i had to... im..officially 27 today!!!!
I should count my own blessing that after living for 27 years, i received so many well wishes from almost everyone in my phone book. Frankly speaking even from kaixin who has been missing from such a long long time! Lainey from Japan and even all the mothers and married classmates of mine!!
Poly year 1
Poly year 2
Poly year 3
Colleagues who have left...
Relatives
so many that i am unable to name all of u.

Nonetheless, i am very very touched.
Sigh all except for that sotong!! But anyway thats y she is called sotong!! Haha

I received this pair of cufflinks from Val this morning and as always, she never fail to give me a gift on all occasions. She is one of the most thoughtful boss!!!

I gotten this from my younger sis...A nike t shirt! I like the cutting and material of this tshirt!

Hongbaos and more hongbaos from my mum, sis and brother in law

Okay, may i continue with the part 2 of my lovely colleagues? there isnt an end to more surprises that ended myself in a fatigue mode. Extremely exhausted with this long run surprises that keep coming and coming!! I'm old after all and can't keep up my stamina with these little kids...thank god gene wasn't around, if not i would have suffered a combo hit!!
Haha, first...a great lunch at swenson and they sang me a bday song so loud that i believed half the crowd can hear. Minyi sends her regards after that lunch as She was sitting on the other side of the restaurant..lol
After lunch, joyce presented me this nice little blank cheque with $20 voucher! The problem is, the bank doesn't exist!
And then more surprise came when i reached home! they told me there was a bomb in my bag and i found more of the vouchers. Okay, now i am completely lost about my finance. What i should spend it on and how i should spend them...

Overall, i gotten myself lots of surprises and nice gifts that i like!!!
I felt blessed to have a nice family, nice friends, nice bosses and nice colleagues! What more can i wish for? And ask for???
Thanks everyone for an unforgettable 27 celebrations!
Happy Birthday to me, MYSELF!!!!
P.s, sorry everyone that the no. didn't strike! Maybe i didn't shout "Haut ar!!" loud enough.

Sneaky Surprises!

How about starting your day with a surprise?
I found this at my seat underneath the desk.

Resisting the temptation to pry, I left it aside instead.
There is something fishy about it and I am indeed scared to open it infront of many eyes.
Frankly speaking, they won't let me off without a prank..

Somehow my curiosity battled over and when my bosses left for a meeting, I decided to open it. As what I had thought, it’s a trick rather than a treat!

Opening of the box

Left over tea bags from spice of life, sponsored by Joyce
40 pieces of mask, compliments from Ah Peng

2 boxes of first choice quality tissue from Joyce again.

沒有了﹐我的禮物在哪裡?
I toppled the box over looking for the tiniest suitable present and I can’t find it.
Actually this year like what I mentioned, I was more looking forward to having a great cozy lunch with some of my closest friends. And indeed, we feasted at Popeye and PS was cheering that this is the first time she has received a treat from me…which I must clarify a bit…Ahem…got treat before..Really!!! let me go recall where and when!! =)
Towards the end of the day, the group sprung up at my cubicle. Presented me my gift finally and when I opened it under 8 pairs of eyes, I felt stress!!!
I was stunned for a moment and I tried figuring out what is this thing that they presented to me, at the same time, making sure it wasn’t another disturb.

It was a golden rooster and after my self interpretation,
1) Rooster with one leg lifted and resting on a step signify advancement in my career
2) The Rooster head was facing backwards signify keeping a look out and preventing gossips as well as back stabbing
I googled and
In summary,

Rooster symbolize a strong, abled, confident and protective character

Because of its ability and strong character, it is often associated to be able to cure specific situations such as
1. bad energy caused by cubicles that look like centipede formation in an office
(Alot of bad energy, my fengshui plant from 8 stalk become 2 and now going to reduce to 1)
2. dissolving political problems in office because of its strong behaviour and influence to put things under control
(I will try tomo when the girls come up with some scary surprises!!!)
3. boosting recognition luck because the rooster is linked to the kingdom of winged creatures in charged by the fiery Phoenix.

Display the rooster in the following locations depending on your aspiration:
1. Rooster will help to solve political problems in office, backstabbing, arguments and harmful peers when placed on your office desk. For modern offices that have cubicles that resemble a centipede arrangement, place the rooster on the boss' desk to kill the centipede that causes quarrelling, havoc and irritation in office.
(This one confirm no...how can i put the rooster on my boss desk??? but thank god she has one herself, similar except she owns a silver rooster and i own a gold rooster! lol)
2. For businessmen, it is best to get a rooster facing outwards at the main entrance to ensure your competitors are kept at bay. The powerful rooster will help you counter attack their poisonous threat.
3 For those seeking for fame luck, you may place a proud rooster at the south corner of your living room or at your business premise to increase recognition luck.
(The south corner would be...ermm...in my FC room???? wahhh......so accurate but then again how am i suppose to place it in her room??)

I think i got to name all of them here to thank them for their thoughtfulness. I love this gift here but it came a sudden surprise to me and it was kind of funny that everyone shared the gift but end up with different interpretation of what it symbolizes in fengshui.
The few explanations
1)May you find your love ones
2)prosperity and career advancement
3)against "Xiao Ren"
4)because my zodiac was rooster?????
Haha...it was funny and i was left even more in "......" when joyce suddenly mentioned that how can i outshine my boss with a golden rooster when she is holding a silver one. But the problem is, it wasn't my purchase or choice. Rubbish and crappy lei this girl!
Thanks to Shan, Fion, Ah sSie, Ah Peng, Ah yuan, Ms Long, ChrisLing, Joshua and the missing Gene....for your thoughtfulness and appreciate the effort in putting these small little surprise.
I am glad that on a day like this, there is someone at least who remembers it and i was even more bless to have this small celebration w you boy and girls!
Rest assured, i will give you something even MORE "Memorable" on ur bday!! hahahaha....10 times more disturbances!
P.S..
Thanks Mr buddy Ah Zhan for the nice lunch treat at crystal jade!!!
Thanks Xin and Li for the nice dinner treaties as well!!!

過大禮 part 2 : One step closer

The boy’s family’s gifts acknowledged the parents’ efforts in raising the girl, and by accepting the gifts, the girl’s family pledged her to the boy’s. It is interesting to note that the bride was given to the family rather than the groom alone, bethrotal was considered binding unless both families agreed to annul the contract.
In the past, several days after the presentation of the betrothal gifts, the girl’s family sent porters with an inventoried dowry to the boy’s house. The dowry consisted of practical items, including a chamber pot, filled for the occasion with fruit and strings of coins. This procession gave the girl’s family the opportunity to display both their social status and their love for their daughter.

However, current days and practice, normally these were exchanged on the same day itself.

Placed nicely to display to relatives the dowry items

We tabao our breakfast!

Relatives already here waiting for the groom

The boy's family arrival

The bethrotal gifts

In old practice, instead of roasted meat, a whole roasted piglet was to be given to the girl's family and in return, the head and tail of the piglet was to be retain by the family. Currently practice changes again, we returned a part of the roasted meat to the boy's family.

The whole event ended with the boy's family bringing all the dowry back to the new home.

A small celebration after having gone through the tradition custom.

The poor bride groom still smiling before an expensive dinner!!!

thank god i wasn't there to share the burden! Lol

Liang Court ...Clarke Quay

過大禮 part 2 can't be written since my sis is holding the camera at her home. Will blog on it another day.

Met up with my usual poly yr 2 gang and caught the movie, The Good, The Bad and the Weird. To be frank, I enjoyed it. It was more of a movie that focus on
耍帥 than on the plot. Overall its very stylish Wild Wild West kind of scenes!

Yesterday damage was pretty bad, I got myself a Nike bag at a discount of 40% but still cost about $60. I always wanted a backpack but being lazy and nothing suitable came by, I never gotten myself one till yesterday.

Look at the display, the bag comes with an extended front. Very comfortable back cushioning.

Inside the bag, the top little pocket is meant for mp3 player where the ear piece wire can be route through the tiny opening from the top.
The bottom compartment is meant for securing lab top.

We agreed to move away from the town to somewhere that was more secluded, Liang Court for our Ramen Dinner. It has been quite some times since I last visited this shopping mall. My past memories were the days when I was working at Giantpot.com where me and mel would spend our lunch time hanging around this place. Back then, there weren’t many shops.
What I saw yesterday, was a lively, clean and rowdy complex. Space was a luxury for the tenant there. Look at the area occupied by those restaurants, coffee house as well as the electronic stores residing the whole 5th floor.

Kino was there even before the renovation of the mall.
This Hello Kitty shop wasn't camera friendly. I overheard the staff debating if they should ask me to delete the picture away.
We feasted in this restaurant in the basement inside meidi-ya, pack with a lot of diners, the ramen did taste well at an affordable and somehow reasonable pricing. But look at this bowl. It was so uniqued that I discovered I was the only customer that was using it. Apparently, they thought I was getting married?? And from the picture, you might have thought that I was having maggi mee at home.
At Liang Court, be assured you will find a suitable restaurant that flavors your taste and satisfied your cravings for any Japanese delicacy.
We moved over to Clarke quay and the girls was looking forward to the flee market. Apparently it seems like they are always in business during weekend.

Savoring our yearn for desserts, Nectarie was just the right place.

We ordered this banana waffle and a strawberry short cake. Compared to my first experience there, yesterday was bad. The cake was served with just 2 forks where there were 3 person. The waffle came without any knife. It was a "ask and be served" type of service attitude.
The indoor was so stuffy that we felt we were sitting beside an oven. Nothing special about their drinks as well. We need to find another better place. Bad service and ambience really spoils the taste.
This morning when i opened my mailbox, i saw this birthday card from my 2 cousins from New Zealand!! I always loved receiving cards with well wishes scribbled all over it!!! I hope i will get more cards this year!!
