I deal with a Hearing Impaired Person

Okay the story goes like this. I was trying to sell off my lenses in clubsnap like what I normally do after buying redundant lenses on impulse due to the attractive “Don’t buy will regret” price tag and ended up reselling them after a few months.
While others are easy sale, these lenses took me a few months to find its new owner.
I got both the lenses at a great discounted price of $150-$180, can’t really recall how much but definitely selling at a gain.
I was contacted by this genuine buyer on Monday who offers to buy them if he tested ok with them. I didn’t know that he was a deaf until he sms me telling me not to call him and I still thought he was pretty cheeky.

When I met up with him, I discovered he has hearing impairment. He was a Malay with his D700 testing the lenses and yet trying to strike a conversation with me. With the accent, and little words that comes out his mouth, I am trying my best to decipher the meaning of them. It was harder to understand them in comparison with speaking to a Jap. I tried to be as normal as I could and as I monitored how he test and shoot with his camera, I suddenly felt that his world might not be as deficient as everyone thought it would be.

Well, after testing, he tried doing a bargaining with me and frankly speaking, if he were to ask for a $50 discount, I would have given it to him too, but he merely asked for a $10 off from the quoted price.
I didn’t offer him more than he asked as I thought it would be more of a sympathetic move and would not be appropriate.

Dealing with him once again reminded me that life is always imperfect…but each day, we should try to stay positive and progress with happiness. Life is short, so don’t waste it.

And i did, i traded off alot of old lenses and cameras for this new rangefinder which i always wanted to test and hands on. They call it a "cheap man's leica".
I dont know when i will sell it away, but meanwhile, i will try to make full use of it. Haha, i should try being happier each day right?

Farewell to Fion and Jessie

I thought i would not feel a thing for colleagues that are leaving since i am so used to seeing people come and go...and i discovered on that day itself that i am not as emotionally strong as i thought i am. So i think i retract what i said in the earlier post that i am "happy" that they left...

I felt rather sad when i shook their hands and discovered the reality that the once cosy, noisy corner will never be the same without the presence of the 2 ladies who left the company.

I regretted not bring my DSLR for this purpose. Nonetheless, here are some of the pictures that we took before I left for the day.

Shiyuan was the saddest among all…since she has been sharing her daily life with these 2 ladies the moment she joined the organisation.
She isn’t crying here, just camera shy.

The very “Wu Xim” Fion, doing up all these cute little basket for every close colleagues in the office…

Mine is a special set of gift…

Jessie got me a little gift too…A very cool Garfield which I left it in the office…will get it photographed another day.

Fion reading her “U will be missed Card!”

I asked her to for a nice pose at her cubicle, before she regret and blame me for not taking a nice picture. As usual, her cubicle is still so messy even on her last day.

Here’s one last picture of the 2009/10 Corporate Finance Team.

All the best to Fion and Jessie! Seriously I think they should have much better opportunity and advancement elsewhere. They are too undervalued in this organisation and I look forward to further chances to work with them in future!

A Mid term review...

Everytime when im feeling abit sick, i tend to start thinking again rationally what i need to do. And it is always during this period i tend to be really motivated again..
So this round, i think i need to improve on my weakness, how i should document my work and do proper filing.
I should change something if i am real about staying in the office.

I went to USS today...to help out with the family day ticketing and i must really comment that Universal studio is really a nice place! I felt like i was back in Disney land and i enjoyed the short session in the cafe drinking my tea...the streets are filled with heavy flow of human traffic and everyone looked so happy!
I was told that almost everyday, the tickets are sold out..
And now, i am seriously looking forward to going there this saturday. Let's just hope that i wont be mobilizes this weekend!

Oh..and this picture is something i did up with photoshop...love the mood of it.

More Colleagues reporting!

I just captured another 3 colleagues of mine in my Colleagues and friends Album..
The great part is, these 3 are from Revenue and they are really nice and fun when together.
So we have Joshua, Elyz and Yubee...
IMG_9278v2

The sad thing is, by end of August, only Elyz is around..the other 2 has found a better patch of grass elsewhere!
IMG_9276v2

Think im already immune to the joining and leaving of colleagues. I don really feel that it's a bad thing for a close colleague to leave the work place. As true friends will always be contactable even if out of your work place and if you still remain close after he or she left, congrats to you as you have just found yourself another friend, rather than just an acquaintance at work to add to your friend list.

All the Best to these 3!!!

Baby Calyn AGAIN

It wasnt on my plan to take pictures of Calyn again.
I know there are lots of her photos posted in my FB and my blog and i just couldnt resist taking pictures of her everytime i saw her.

She dropped by my office on Friday, joining her mum to CAAS Dinner and Dance. I was about to leave for my movie when i went out to say hi to her...and spend like 10 mins there playing with her.

She look abit blur here as she just woke up...and unlike other babies, she didnt cry even when she was surrounded by so many unfamiliar faces.

Over the Weekends

I caught both movies, Inception and The Sorcerer apprentice over the weekends.
One is too serious and the other is too simple.

I felt that The Sorcerer Apprentice is made more for children. The storyline is simple and lack surprises. Vice Versa, Inception really makes you think and think. Both arent really entertaining for me.

After the Citibank event yesterday, me and Xin went off to check out the camera that she has shortlisted. I realized that compact camera these days are either priced too expensive, if not very cheap and the prices really speaks for the functions and quality. So basically, either you spurge on an excellent quality camera, if not, pick a lousy one that still can capture pictures.

After waiting few hours till the arrival of Fionis, we went to Watami, a jap restaurant that she introduced, i think the food was "okay" only. I just dscover that the whole of yesterday was about food, we even went over to Ash and Rock for snacks after our dinner.

Ash and Rock is basically a cafe that sells some finger food which isnt too pricey but also nothing to "WOW" about.

It's not really a cosy cafe that you can spend many hours chatting in, the ambiance etc didnt make me feel like staying there too long too. Giving it abit of credit, the food is cheap and the service isnt that bad.

IMG_3822

Cheesy fries that we ordered alot
IMG_3821v1

The sausage tasted slightly weird, but its really cheap, the whole set plus a drink only cost $6.80. And i got some discount, so basically i paid $5 only..haha
IMG_3824

Not very sure how this taste like, but i think it look abit cheapo thou..ops
IMG_3827

Overall, i think it's a cafe that caters to people who wants a quick bite, not really a cosy place for chats and i think i am having a grouchy mood while typing in this entry..can feel? haha

Singapore Garden Festival 2010

I wanted to go on Thursday intially with the Orchids gang but unfortunately, that day was our company health day and as a coordinator, i couldn't get my leave approved.
Sheryl did asked if i wanted to take a leave that day and that i can just go if i really need to..but how to???

So i thought i wont be going after all, and who knows Sunday evening, i was asked to go by Fionis
Anyway, this year's Garden Festival was quite similar compared to last year. The only
difference was that the crowd was all armed with DSLR! But i bet i got lots of nicer pics compared to the rest..esp with my F1.2 lens...haha

Basically all the pics are from the top level floor garden exhibition. I just noticed i did not have a single shot from level 4.
I just dive straight to the flower booths and start checking the flower and a little apology to my friend who reprimanded me for the sudden disappearance. I am so sorry.

Anyway, i got myself a few orchids and hopefully the next Garden Fest 2011, there would be more things to look forward to!
