Want To Sell

Since i am free today and National day is coming, i did a ransack through my personal store and found some items for sale. Yay, instead of storing up dust, might as well offload some of these and rip some returns.

First item I really want to sell. My under utilised Roller Blade
Anyone wants it?

Comes with a bag, that is collecting dust
IMG_1592

Blades look nice but heavy. Wheels glide so slow till you wont fall down.
IMG_1596

Very unique brand cause you cant find anyone wearing or buying it.

IMG_1598

Best of all, i will throw in my washed guards. Don't worry, i sun them almost each time i finish using it and it still smells bad.
IMG_1602

Anyway, the above descriptions sounds really nice for this pair of blades rite? Of course i am not typing the above in my ebay! Hopefully, i will get it auctioned away above my asking price.

Next up!
Along with some live stock...My fighting fishes being put up for auction.

Hopefully, i can get more than $25 from each of them.

Don't belittle the demand for these creatures, they can cost as much as a brand new shirt!

Anyone interested can just sms me. Will give a friendship price..Haha...

Weekends and then a long weekend!

I am extremely looking forward to this weekend and that was because, i thought i would by then received my increment letter. Not that i expected much from it but at least the thought of additional amounts added to my salary would make my weekend feel better. Spend Better! haha.

As expected from the confusing section, somehow it was delayed again! Sigh...at least they will back pay me in August.

Talking about weekends, i just got to know that its National Day next week and its going to be a long weekend..long enough to go on some trips. I was initially asked to go thailand for a short trip with my best friend out of the blue. Thank god she dropped the idea within the next 3hours and that is when i realised i over-rated her savings.

Petty was originally going to Japan and i was so overjoyed for her since she offered to get me some stuff there but the plan blew off and so here she is remaining in Singapore. Nontheless i am going to offer her some tickets to the zoo if she really wants. At the minimum, she still gets to see international animals..

I know she is going to curse and swear over my good intentions here!

Hopefully for the rest, they will have a better holiday. Especially, one friend that is wishing for 48hrs a day!

I am really going to do photography this weekend!

How you define your Work Place?

I am a person with lots of ambition. I believed my family won’t disagree with me on this. When I was 7, I dreamed to become a soldier! I dreamt to be a Navy Officer, a Lawyer, a Doctor, and finally ending off as a business man…(wishful thinkings..haha)

I never ever dream of entering the Finance Sector but here I am, stuck in this industry for as long as I started working permanently.

I started out in DHL and ended up in CAAS and finally CAG now.
Walking thru the different workplace, going through the different culture, I noticed that conflict arise every second when there is an interest.
If you happened to find a company with “ZERO” Office Politics or rather one with very little conflict, then you are really lucky, considering spending half your day at work and half of your life working.

I happened to be one of the many lucky people around. I witnessed the meanest person in my ex company, what a hypocrite is, how people turn against each other as soon as their back are facing each other.

Oh I did mention that I was lucky and I wasn’t trying to be sarcastic with the above comments. In fact, I was hit with a cultural shock when I joined my current company, so different I cannot believe that a place a culture as such exists.

A place where there is no “finger pointing” when a matter arise. I was reconfirmed that not within Finance but throughout the organisation. I am not good with words, so I seldom argued or try hard to defend myself and I never had to.
Within a month, I met with many incidents that could somehow affect your work and darken your career advancement, but the people here did not start pointing finger or shifting blames in hope of clearing guilt off their names.
The first thing they do, is to help one another out of this shit and re think solutions together even if it meant working extra hours when it was no fault of theirs.
You will see a director buying dinner for staff that are not under her unit. You will see team mates camping each night to leave at the same timing. Somehow work become fun and stress are spread equally shouldered by everyone.

This is what I call a “Matured Working Environment” and I am glad I joined them and I experience how real professionals work.

So how good is your workplace? How good is the culture?

Shopaholic

Like what I say in my previous entry, I am supposed to be on a photo taking session this weekend. Who knows, on Saturday I brought the wrong lens out resulting no pictures taken of both Orchard Ion and Orchard Central. Not to mention I am carrying the almost 2kg kits shopping.

Erm, Did I mentioned shopping? Well it was not supposed to be in my itinery for the weekends, remembering last thursday, I reminded myself to save up.

Anyway, I have gotten myself finally a Porter Bag! Walk in and out of the shop each time I am at wisma and finally found what I wanted at a 15% discount.
I have been using my old FOX bag for almost 3 years and I think it is time to change a new one.

Following that, i met up with the "Left4Dead" gaming group for a gaming session at Iluma..think i wont be patronizing them too often, i am not really an addictive gamer and considering playing at late hours, with the mid night cab surcharge, its really expensive!

Sunday was supposed to go for bowling but everyone was down with flu and I happened to be at parkway and I start stocking up some cheap sales items…
Tsk..

My first Braun portable shaver.
Say good bye to studs that i always had when i had long night!

Goodbye old folks home..back to work

Just when I thought I had a good rest back in reservist, I was welcomed back in office by the terrible assignment. Yes I did told Ms Wan to leave some parts of the task for me to complete out of courtesy but end up…we were stuck with lots of grey areas.

Work aside, since it’s nothing more than just tedious and overtime, I think I better leave all the whining out of this entry.

Anyway, there isn’t much to share in this entry except to up my blog entry keeping it to stay alive…

To all friends, the closetelves has launched their 4th series, please go support if interested and quote, I am the referral. I am not sure if they will give you a good price but at least it makes me looks better by honouring my promise to fionis in publicising for them in forums which I didn’t.

Hourly wage calculation

Okay, the past few days of tedious work has got me into serious thinking and like the crappy me, I always stare blank and daze whenever I get the slightest opportunity to.
And surprisingly I came up with this calculation of my hourly salary which makes me feel much better.

For example, I am earning 2k per month, only weekdays at work which will sum up to a 22days per month, each day spending 9 hours at work.
2000/22/9 = $10.10 per hour

In comparison to a Manager who might be fetching $4000 a month, working on every Saturday which sums up to a total of 26 days per month and spending at least 12 hours at work and standby another 2 hours after work which adds up to a total of 14hours a day.
4000/26/14 = $10.98 per hour

“BLINKS”
Basically, I am not very inferior in comparison of my salary. I have yet to include the amount of stress in obtaining such a pay out.

Well of course, if you were to look at reality, the amount of money is still a lot in comparison for the above 2. But its really a quantitative effort and the compensation for it.
If you notice, i am using "compensation" instead of reward on the above base salary. Well there is a reward in actual fact, the BONUS pay out! This is the where the difference came about in terms of stress!

The next time you think about selling your soul to your company, do a calculation first and maybe you will notice that pantry aunty is laughing at you since she is earning a higher hourly wage..

Meanwhile I am really happy to stay as what I am after my “these days” encounter!

Thinking back..

On a lively day, and you are occupied with activities but somehow your mind starts swaying back to the past memories..Do you experience these before? All of a sudden, memories start flashing through your mind.

I experienced it today and to be frank, It strike me quite hard. All the time, money and energy that I have wasted on irrelevant things makes me felt foolish. None the less, we should look forward and somehow after last week of hectic and stressful work, I fully understood the meaning of commitment vs freedom. For all that hard work I plan to put in, I hope I could at least reap some recognition.
I am giving this hope of mine a one last chance.

Oh yah, because of the H1N1 virus, I felt that I should try to avoid crowded areas so over the weekend, I bought a few books.

Yes, all are on Photography. Putting immediately some advice from the books, 2 similar shots using different method…

1st, the books with wrapper, taken without flash showing reflections

Before flash

Since without flash, the books are already showing reflections from the room’s lighting, the thought of shooting with flash, will the pictures turned shiny from all the strong lightings?

Picture taken with flash.. I simply bounce the flash lighting off the ceiling at 180 degrees at a slower and less powerful mode.

After flash

Back to the topic, these books are going to accompany me through my reservist as well.

Dinner and Dance 2009

After my many many excuses of buying stuff over my dinner and dance, the day finally came.

The Final Dinner and Dance of CAAS 09, Stars of the Night!

Okay that’s me..the very “ai mei” me, posing again to check if the whole attire suits me and sinceno one is home and I do not have a full body mirror…

IMG_1436

The journey wasn’t as nice as I thought it would be. It was so humid I had to take a cab since I am running late. Who would have thought the cab I board had a lousy air con system that doesn’t cool me down, furthermore, the whole cab smell of “Curry Rice”.

It wasn’t all that bad till my slow walk to Suntec where an aunty step on my new shoes. I think my natural scream scares her abit..haha
