I finally cleared my Labor Day off last monday and decide to stroll the town on a quiet working day.
Met up with Fionis since she is on some Euro Public holiday.
The day was super hot and humid while we do our shopping and finally after admitting our defeat to the weather, we went for a lavish tea session at Arteastiq, Mandarin Gallery.
This is my first time there, and its hidden behind a furniture shop...and i think its a really peaceful and nice relaxing place.
An orientation around the place...Pictures using Fuji Press 800 expired..with my 55mm f1.2, and slides Elitechrome 100
White roses against the window...we just couldnt resist taking pictures while waiting for our tea to be served.
Very comfortable and cozy chairs along the window...and thick cushion at the opposite.
The Pear Tea i Ordered! Really nice!
(Pics from Fion camera)
Me enjoying my tea and my Porter beside me
My own take on my tea! Nicer rite...the feel...
Playing with the reflection off the table...
The lady from the next table..praying before her drink...
This pic took like forever...
Well the sun created a nice silhouette effect..

(Although its my camera..but she took the pics..)
All except that bad weather...it was quite a fruitful relaxing day...
Arteastiq is a really nice place to hang out, especially on a quiet monday and i saw alot of Tai Tai there...:)
If you have the time and chance..and you have nothing better to do, why not head down there and chill!

The day i woke up early for a stroll to the market
I woke up early one morning deciding to catch the images of the early market which i always wanted to.
Taking pictures of the local wet market on film is quite challenging and for a start, i tried a roll of Ilford Delta 100, Black and White film which i have gotten off from Lomotionsg.com
Didnt really like black and white film, maybe because unlike most people who shoot in black and white, they developed their own films at home while i send to the shop for processing. This way, i missed the chance to experience as well as setting the tones and contrast of the picture i wanted.
While with balance films, i moved along bencoolen while bringing this film to triple D to develop.

First Photography attempt on Streets
Well, street photography wasn't really my cup of tea but i do admire people who do that...in a way, its another form of art to capture real images in life.
Everyone can snap some candid shots but not many can capture real moments with skills and composition. Unlike landscape photography that you have a lot of time to prepare and set up, streets candid is testing more on your reaction and reflex to the things around you. There are basically no rules to street photography.
A famous photographer once said that...a successful street photography is where a person by looking at the photo is able to tell the mood of it.
This is my try...had a great time trying all different angle..i just need to go closer to the subject and hopefully i can improve as i go...

The Night Landscape
I always wanted to get this shot of Tanjong Rhu and the Sheares benjamin bridge but its so difficult to reach that prime spot.
Yesterday, i decided to try out the new Nicoll Highway mrt station.
In order to take this picture, i will need to stroll into a park that is so dark and have my tripod mount near the water.
Amazingly, i find that i am rather brave by gathering all of my guts to dash in and take 3 shots before i ran off.
I didnt really get to composite with the use of filters etc...but at least i get a picture!
Well, a little adventure pays off...

A day of Photography
It was another day of Photography session organised by Bro Victor. Well, the response wasn't that good, so ended up only the 2 of us do our street photography at Orchard Road.
To be frank, it tends to make me feel a little braver with a partner in shuttering off at people.
Well Victor has an eye for streets photography and he is really talented. To him, there isn't any rules for street photography..and all u do is keep snapping...
Well, for this session, i chose to bring my FM2 loaded with films with me to test out my voigtlander lens. I am going to develop them tomorrow and hopefully, there are a few shots that can be used.
Well, its kinda weird for me to be suddenly so enthusiastic after a photography session to go for another, but i did. I even went home to change cameras and gears before leaving for town for another Night Photography!
I recalled that day when i visited Millenia Walk with Fionis and spotted this nice scene...guessed that everyone would be busy shooting Helix, i might as well avoid the crowd and have the place to myself...
And so here i am...The first few shots went too underexpose and there was too much distortion that i had to give them up!
But at least, there were some shots that could be place for display. Shooting landscape and streets are totally different. A blurred photo or a random picture in street photography can turn out pleasant or artistic. You shoot like crazy and each picture has a story and feel behind it. But landscape is different, you take the same scene over and over testing out and making sure you get all the details you want.
Next, you will choose just the best picture among all and use it. So basically, in landscape shots...all u need is just 1 photo!
Millenia Walk in sepia...the flyer is purple!
This place is all about refection
Looking up!

Recollecting my thoughts
It’s so frustrating these days. There are so many things bottling up in my mind right now and I do not have that bit of time and energy to sort them out. Problem lies with me… I don’t know what I can do to get it done and I chose the easy way out by ignoring it.
So in the end, it accumulates and now, I really need to take a breath.
In a way, I always hope for things to happen…but there are just so many uncontrollable factors that isn’t within my reach. I discovered that I am inclined towards being a dreamer…just dream and dream and achieved nothing in the end. I am never satisfied and I tend to want more…
Yesterday, I witness my neighbour passed away in the morning in his bed in his sleep. Looking at a spiritless corpse lying there, it signals the end of a life. Whatever he has done or wishes to do will come to a stop.
On my way to work, I met bus stop gal and our conversation made me realized that I have forgotten all about my goals, my motivation and the directions in my life. My comfortable and protected environment made me vulnerable, lazy and reliant on people. Somehow, I felt its time I should reconsider and rediscover all my interest and once again determine my future.
I hope I still remembered the ambition I wrote on that piece of paper when I first started out my career.

Mi and my Perm Hair
It was not an impulsive decision to get my hair Perm!
I had enough of my hair!
Its always so heavy when its long, and somehow my wax would always last for a few hours before everything comes weighing down making my fringe and my top flat!
Especially on hot humid days, when u are full of sweat and ur wax came melting down, it makes your hair even flatter.
So after a few decision, i went ahead to get my hair perm! Billy did it for me and initially i wanted just a bit of volume, but on 2nd thought, i was thinking why not try something new..Make my hair look natural with curls and somemore curls on guys seems to be the next in thing.
I like the result of my perm, but no pictures for now:), since i didnt really take time to maintain it these few days and i believed it will look nicer when my hair lengthen, will post some natural pics in future...lol
Let's just hope it's not really a big commotion in office tomorrow!

Mum's Mee Hoon Kuey!
This used to be our family dish. Every time when Dad is in good mood, he will make us Mee Hoon Kuey and we are always such a glutton for it. I still remembered the days, we mold the flour and make our own shape and size even at age 7, i can eat a few bowls..and still craving for it each and every week.
As its a little troublesome to fix, its a once in a long time dish for us now. Only on some special days, when everyone is in good mood, we will get to eat it.
Today, mum and sis took the effort to make the dish again. Although it doesnt taste like the past, it is still very nice. A dish full of memories!

Singapore Last Kampong, Lorong Buangkok
I first came to know of this place in Clubsnap forum and i always wanted to make a trip there. But i was never confident of finding this place even with the directions given so ended up i gave it a miss.
Last Saturday, I spotted an outing thread to this place organised by CS member and i joined them for this tour to this kampong.
As much as I'm prepared to enter this kampong, with insect repellent sprayed all over, i was still bitten by those crazy mosquitoes.
Well, heard that maybe after a year, this Kampong will vanish from this place.
The no. of residents there has already shrunk to about 10 people from the intial big group. The residents are really friendly thou, directing us to the Kampong and smiling to us when we make our way in.
All the pictures shown here are taken with films, the more vintage looking was with the expired Konica centuria super 200, and the more contrasty pictures are with Lucky 200.
Greeted by this grouchy uncle who seems to be in a bad mood that day.
His dirty workshop
His tools and spare part
Finally exit the kampong...
