Qing Ming festival is a day where we remember our ancestor, a day for people to show their filial by visiting tombs and grave yard and also a day for reunion amidst the busy life of individuals.
However, I felt that it was more of a day for family bonding as well as a day to bring memories of the dead. I am not really a religious person to believe superstitious tales but I am a person of tradition and culture.
Of course, it’s a day of feasting as well =)
We started off with offerings at my uncle’s place for my grand parents and great grand parents on a Saturday. The actual visiting of Tomb and grave yard will be on Good Friday.
Typical Taoism offerings on Qing Ming
Another “Must” have offering.
This Soon Kuek has a long history, don’t be fool by its appearance, it is one of the best handmade soon kuek you can hardly find in Singapore.
You need abit of luck and a lot of “face” to get it.
Pumpkin cake, made by my aunt. The standard is there!
Mostly are catered. Taste pretty not bad.
Well, we scheduled to visit Mandai on Sunday evening. A once a year visits to my dad’s urn at Mandai.
After our lunch at the Prawn noodle stall which I have mentioned here
http://jackson-myphilosophy.blogspot.com/2009/04/jalan-sultan-prawn-noodle.html, we drove our way there.
Scattering of Jasmine
Pretty crowded still but not as crowded compared to last year’s visit. Maybe due to raining? The weather was pretty cooling as well.
