Dinner at JumBOOOO
Just happened that we have a $50 vouchers to dine at Jumbo(NSSR) and we decided to go there for our dinner after our visit to Mandai. If you are looking at applying some club membership, this is a nice club to consider.
Some great views that I took there.
Didn’t really know Changi Airport has great business too. The planes are landing on an interval of 15 minutes.
Little did we know that despite the economy downturn, this restaurant is still bustling with business. We didn’t make a reservation but was quite lucky to get a table.
The staffs were extremely well trained, very customer oriented.
Our first dish, Fried baby squid. We finish it pretty fast. Very tasty
Garlic friend kai lan, decent dish, no wow factor
There are much anticipation for this dish, Garlic Prawn, but pretty disappointing. The garlic was over fried and causes a strong bitterness to the prawns. All the taste was gone.
Claypot Toufu was nice, much better than the one we had at Kar Soh, served hot with lots of fresh seafood as ingredient.
Last but not least, the final dish, Chilli Crab!! Sis mentioned that its ok only but I really think its one of the best I had, at least for the past few months.
Oh yup, got to mention the attentiveness of the staff at the restaurant. They even provide a cover for my camera bag. Maybe they thought I am a food critic or reporter, since I keep taking pictures of each individual dish. I was even offered a napkin when the crab was served.
Okay so basically, Good food, Good scenic, Good service. What else is missing??? Hmmm…missing somethings here……oh how about some nice music to smoothen the ambience!!! And of course if the waitress are …..

Qing Ming 09
Qing Ming festival is a day where we remember our ancestor, a day for people to show their filial by visiting tombs and grave yard and also a day for reunion amidst the busy life of individuals.
However, I felt that it was more of a day for family bonding as well as a day to bring memories of the dead. I am not really a religious person to believe superstitious tales but I am a person of tradition and culture.
Of course, it’s a day of feasting as well =)
We started off with offerings at my uncle’s place for my grand parents and great grand parents on a Saturday. The actual visiting of Tomb and grave yard will be on Good Friday.

This Soon Kuek has a long history, don’t be fool by its appearance, it is one of the best handmade soon kuek you can hardly find in Singapore.
You need abit of luck and a lot of “face” to get it.

If my memory serves me right, this stall was around even before Mac Donald’s started expanding its branches in Singapore.
It was my uncle who brought me there when I was in my primary school days. Back in the days, while I am still living a life of poverty, spending $2 to $3 on a bowl of prawn noodles was a luxury breakfast for me.
I remembered the days where I stayed over night at my uncle’s place; the most looking forward thing was next morning breakfast. It was either MacDonald’s Big Breakfast or Jalan Sultan Prawn noodle.
This stall originates from Jalan Sultan but shifted over to kallang in the 80’s. I would definitely say that it is the best Prawn Noodle we had in Singapore over the years. Notice that I use “we” instead of “I” because this statement represents my family votes as well.
The Price does change but the taste doesn’t.
It’s located very near Kallang MRT station, actually just in between the MRT and People’s association, a 5 min walking distance. For clearer indication, its at the shop house just beside the bus inter-change.
This Place is small and always crowded but never once will you need to wait for a seat. Somehow somewhere you will get a table.
The food is served in express timing that is comparable to a fast food restaurant.
Fast with quality!
Chilli and chopsticks are on the desk.
Get yourself a table and order your food at the drink counter. Drinks are self-service but the noodles will be served within minutes.
People come and go fast, maybe because of its location or maybe because of the ambience, you won’t see people taking their own sweet time there.
While waiting, you may wish to order these side dishes.
I prefer the soupy one and with just prawns.
Oh yah, their pork lark is one of the best too. I know its not very healthy and fattening, but it really goes well with prawn noodles.

Well if you drive, there are a few parking lots around the shops. If not, you can park at the bus inter-change but remember to enter the interchange at its correct entrance.
The only bad point with this location is that it has no shelter and if it happens to rain, good luck.
Worth trying, won’t cost you more than $5 if you don’t order that much.

Was at Vivo-City and took these pictures last weekend. One of the many mega malls in Singapore as well as my favorites.
