A Mistake

Today i discovered a mistake i made in my daily work. It was an oversight and a carelessness on my part which nearly turned into a big problem.
My job is all about information and data accuracy and yet, my data was inaccurate. The luckiest thing was that i had a reliable and supporting team that helped me to solve this issue.
In a way, i felt protected but somehow it makes me feel that I am weak. So weak that i always need people to help cover and tolerate my mistakes and sing praises of me for tiny achievement that i did in order to make me look worthy to stay in the team. I am over relying on my team...

and indeed, if one day i am alone in the team, can i still perform as good as them? Am i over rated? Today Sheryl showed me her work, and to be frank, can i even memorized or recall datas like her? Can i write papers like her? Can i even try coming out with solutions like her?

I must learn and buck up. Like teow beng once said..if there is a day i felt i cant value-add to this organisation or my team anymore, then it should be the time i should leave.

Buzzing through the City with my lens

I think i have been looking at things through my lenses quite often lately and it is slowly becoming a habit of mine to carry my camera with me whenever i go.
So on a fine day, i decided to just roam the city area and capture images that i seldom have interest on.

I have gotten this vivitar 70mm 210mm cheapo lens but it reflects wonderful images quality as well. So im guessing its the man behind the camera actually that is wonderful.

Agfa Precisa

My first Precisa developed. Unlike many slides, Agfa produced a different feel by touching more on contrast than on color hues.

Let's save the Old lens

I cannot understand why people would want to save that bit of money and take the risk of spoiling the whole lens where they should have actually hired a professional to get the lens cleaned.
I have gotten this lens from this guy nick "inout", appearance of this lens was very good. I thought i have picked an unbelievable bargain of this legendary lens but i was wrong, after a few tries, i discovered that the lens has alot of technical problem. Focusing and aperture seems a little off.

Spoke to a few gurus and discovered that the lens was dissembled and reassembled by some "act smart". It was further confirmed by Mr Phillip Tay. Conclusion, the lens was carelessly dissembled, the lens was cleaned using a wrong chemical and we could spot fungus marks on it, lens was badly assembled back and the rear glasses was inverted and as such, the focus is out. The total repair cost would cost me $95.

I made a decision to get this lens repaired instead of returning back to the owner. The reason was simple.

Like Mr Phillip Tay, we both felt the pain on this lens. It was such a good lens but such a pity to be abused by the previous owner. The lens was handled badly and might not recover to its top notched condition but assured by Mr Phillip, he will reinstate the lens back to its original condition as much as he can.

The owner is willing to half the cost of the repair on this lens which still after calculation cheaper than what i can fetch from the market.

The lens to be recalibrate and repaired by Mr Phillip Tay would means the glass will get an assurance if i were to resale it in future.

Mom asked me why i don get a gd conditioned one for $600. The reason is, even if i paid $600 for it, i cannot assured it will be in a good condition. At least for this lens, i know the reason and i know that Mr Phillip has fixed all the issues.

Nikkor produced many good lens and many which have already stopped production. While many people still hold on to these lenses, not many treated them with care. In a way, these are antiques that should be treated with more care. It is such a waste to spoil the lens due to genuine mis handling of them.

A Contradicting Day

I am a Zhai Nan today and i went shopping myself to break myself free from this curse.
I have gotten nothing except this contradicting lens itself...Apparently this is a legendary lens and supposingly, it should be performing at its best.
I got it at a bargain but now i am blogging about how headache this lens is.
It just cant seem to work well for my SLR and i am hiring 2 gurus to solve this problem for me.

Conclusion after my brief description is that the lens itself was dissembled and assembled back in a bad manner...which i seriously doubt this is the reason.
Nonethelss since im free, i might be making a trip down to Mr Philip Tay for a consultation.

Sigh this hobby make me look more Zhai...
I hope i wont look like this when im old! All alone at the bus stop waiting for a bus.
